Hello Chicsters!

Hope you all are doing well. Just like any other organ of our body, our skin needs equal amount of care. Hence, it is very important that we choose the right products for our skin. How many of us really take the pain to look at the ingredients of our skin care products. Not many, but I do. For someone like me who has a sensitive skin, I make sure I make no compromise in terms of the choosing the products that are best for it.

I recently posted about Mother Sparsh Wet Wipes, this product has topped my list of must-haves. As compared to the other wet wipes in the market, this one is a lot better. It is as good as just cotton and water. The other wet wipes consist of harsh and harmful chemicals which can cause damage to your skin. Also, most of these brands use polyester fabric to make these wipes. The same material is used in making plastic, pipes and wires. Imagine the horror of skin allergies and red patches...never letting that happen to me! Most brands may not even mention this. But this test is at your rescue. This is called the flame test which will help you find out if your wipes contain polyester or not.

The products you need for this are easily available at home. So, here is what you need:
  • Wet wipes (I have taken 2 brands for better comparison)
  • Candle
  • Match box
The procedure of the flame test.
Step  1: Remove one wipe and allow it to dry
Step 2: Now light the candle with the help of the matchstick
Step 3: Hold the corner of the wet wipe near the candle flame

How do you find out if your brand uses polyester or not?
There two factors to determine:
  1. Fragrance: If your wet wipe smells like plastic after burning it, be rest assured you have purchased a product which consists high amount of polyester. It is synthetically made out of plastic waste. If you get the smell like that of a burnt cloth, it means that your wet wipe is made out of natural fabric with no adulteration.
  2. The residue: After burning the wipe, if it has hard black residue, it means that there is a presence of polyester in it. However, if it turns into ash, that means it has been made out of 100% natural plant fabric.

Believe it or not, researchers have found out polyester in 99% of the wet wipes brands that are being sold in the market. The percentage of polyester will surely vary. But whether you take a small amount of poison or large quantity, it is dangerous in every way. Hence I decided to do this test too and show you how my favourite Mother Sparsh wipes stood out as it successfully passed the test. Proper cleansing is important for our skin but it doesn’t need harmful chemicals for it. Give it the gift of nature. Mother Sparsh wet wipes contain 98% water.

Hope you enjoyed reading the blog and I really urge you all to make the right choice for your skin. Your healthy self will totally show up on your skin. Chao!
